A Brief History

East Essex Triathlon Club, EETC for short, started life in 1981 as 'Courtlands' Triathlon Club with just a handful of members from the squash club keen to try the fledgeling sport of Triathlon. In 1983 the name changed to 'East Essex' when interest in the club and popularity of the sport in general began to grow.

Before long the club out grew it's spiritual home at Courtlands and new venues were sort further afield to cater for the ever increasing membership from across the county.

The club today

Nearly 40 years on and the club is an affiliated member of the British Triathlon Federation and has achieved the Trimark Club Bronze Accreditation.

The club's activities are centered around the brand new Basildon Sporting Village, with satelite sites such as Runnymede Swimming Pool, Blackshots Leisure Centre, Sweyne Park School and Ford's Dunton Test Track. We host three annual races; Basildon Aquathlon, East Essex Kids Triathlon, and Wilkins Kennedy Grays Triathlon, all extrememly popular events in the Triathlon calendar. (See the Races page for more details).

The club has around 300 members aged 8 to (nearly) 80. Those members choose to use the club in a number of ways:-
